Unflappable Flapper

On my recent trip to Duke Gardens, I took several shots of this mallard. He is the coolest cucumber of a bird I've ever met. Absolutely imperturbable. He was so motionless when I first saw him that I wasn't sure he was real, but then he finally blinked. I got right up next to him, shot him from every angle, and he never so much as twitched. Like the birds of Paris, he was not impressed or intimidated by humans. It would not have surprised me to see him affect a chic bored look, put on sunglasses, and light up a cigarette.

Surface feeding waterfowl know they're cool, apparently.
